First PlaceMelrose Pyrotechnics Takes First Place in Shanghai

The 8th Shanghai International Music Fireworks Festival panel of judges has awarded 1st prize to Melrose Pyrotechnics Inc, USA.

Melrose was the first international competitor to present a 30 minute pyromusical program during the competition, which began Sunday, September 30th. This date is also the beginning of the National Day holiday in China.

The Displays were enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of fireworks fans, who gathered each night in Shanghai’s Century Park.

Melrose incorporated nine floating platform locations and five aerial shell locations for this computer fired display. The show was set up by five Melrose technicians, along with a team of local technicians, who were provided by the sponsor.

This is the second first-place-finish for Melrose Pyrotechnics in as many competitions. Melrose was awarded first place in 2006 at the Montreal International Fireworks Competition."

Melrose Pyrotechnics, Inc., Kingsbury, IN -- Melrose Pyrotechnics performed an originally designed display on July 19th, 2006 for L’International des Feux Loto-Québec at La Ronde in Montréal, Canada.

Melrose was one of nine companies/countries competing in the 22nd installment of this world famous fireworks competition. The Montréal International Fireworks Competition is the largest of its kind, attracting an average of 2.9 million spectators annually.

Melrose gave its regards to the majestic world of Broadway with a production entitled “Curtain Call.” Eight acts of Broadway musicals, including The Sound of Music, Chicago, West Side Story, and The Phantom of the Opera, were choreographed with unique products from around the world. Six months of design and preparation brought these musicals to life on our own pyrotechnic stage.

L'International des Feux Loto -Québec
The 2006 L‘International des Feux Loto-Québec presented by TELUS proved to be a truly original edition of the renowned competition, with Africa participating for the first time and three firms making their Montréal performance debut.

“We were extremely impressed with the quality of the presentations of the various fireworks firms,” event director Martyne Gagnon declared. “They all worked tremendously hard to provide spectators with productions of exceptional variety and quality”

What began in 1985 as a gathering for friendly exchanges between colleagues in the fireworks industry has, two decades later, unquestionably become a centerpiece event in the spectacular world of professional pyrotechnics.

Melrose Pyrotechnics provides the spark at three events receiving top honors at The Special Events' 2005 Gala Awards.

Chicago based Jam Productions, producers of the Millennium Park Grand Opening Gala were nominated in two categories and took home top honors in both. Best Event Produced for a Nonprofit Organization and Most Outstanding Spectacle.

Melrose produced the pyrotechnic effects for this event and is credited with creating a stunning pyrotechnic scene at the climax of the evening.

The two other nominees for Most Outstanding Spectacle were also Melrose Clients.

Charlotte Shout Culinary Arts Experience, a three day cooking and entertainment festival featured stage pyro to introduce Celebrity Chefs from The Food Network.

The NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge pre-race show was produced by JHE Production Group of Concord, N.C.. Melrose provided close proximity and aerial pyrotechnics throughout the evening. This event was broadcast live on television and attended by 150,000 fans.
